Caution: This is a cable operated bridge. The cables are visible just above the water when the bridge is closed. During and opening the cables remain visible until the bridge is fully open. The cables then drop slowly to the channel bottom. Be certain to wait for an all clear signal from the bridge, either via VHF or horn (one long, one short). When the bridge returns to its closed position the cables are once again visible just above the surface of the water.

Draft: 3.5'We went thru with no issues at all, its right after you come out of the lock heading east. the lock master offered to let the bridge know that we were coming thru and they had it opened for us. very easy

Draft: 4.5'February 15, 2022. Sam of WhatYachtToDo on a training and delivery journey. Sea Ray 480MY with a 4-ft draft. Got to this bridge about 40 minutes before the 5PM opening of the Calcaseiu Lock (construction). I counted on an early opening, but it did not happen. You cannot go through this bridge until the Lock clears you. Terrific bridge tender (Lisa) who said we could anchor, but instead we set up a holding pattern in slow idle so we would be ready when the lock cleared us.
