Noteworthy: | Floating dock maintained by the city for public use. Access from the Mississippi via the Rum River is perilous for larger, deeper draft vessels due to the current and the presence of unmarked rocks just outside the channel. Staying between the channel markers (where present) and in the center of the river will help but may not be a guarantee particularly if you have to give way to boats moving in the other direction. Most suitable for pontoons, dinghies, and smaller boats. Great place to visit if you don't like the pitch of your prop and are looking for an excuse to replace it. There is a walkway and bike path along the river in both directions that connects several parks, including access to the dam just upstream. Good access to many shops and restaurants. While there is no specific signage prohibiting overnight use, this is clearly intended as a day use facility. Hours for the adjoining park are 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. There is good fishing from the dock and you may encounter individuals so engaged. Signage states that people fishing must give way to boats. |
