Bayfield, the second oldest settlement on the lake, established in 1830. It was “discovered” by prosperous summer cottagers early in the 20th century.
Tourists have discovered the town and crowd its historic inns, good restaurants and gift and antiques shops. Bayfield Main St. is a pleasant walk from either marina. Every Friday from May to October, a Friday Farmers’ Market is held in Clan Gregor Square. Bayfield is one of the best-equipped yacht harbors on the lake.
