Vessel Type: Power
LOA: 76'
Draft: 5.0'Spent 6 days here waiting for repairs to the guillotine door on the east end of the lock. While the situation was undesirable the Canal Staff could not have been more accommodating. They provided drinking water at no charge, removed black water at no charge, had a fuel operator contact us to check on our needs and were willing to provide rides to anywhere locally. Nice town, nice people. 5 stars to Lock 17 staff and management.

Vessel Type: Power
LOA: 44'
Draft: 4.5'We tied up on part as required. About 2/3rd rise, 2 strong men, one on bow and one on stern ropes could not keep out DeFever 44 on the wall. The current pushed us toward starboard until they were at the end of the ropes and couldn't hang on. We slid parallel to the starboard wall and they grabbed lines there. When questioned, the lockmaster said a clogged port must have become unclogged (see also comment on Lock #19).

Vessel Type: Power
LOA: 38'
Draft: 4.5'This lock has a lift gate at the down river end. You will get wet and it will drop some mud. The lift here is over 43 feet! Westbound all boats must tie on the south wall. The water entering the lock is along the north wall.
