Beautiful spot! Very quiet with 4 other boats anchored. We stayed closer to the beginning of creek due to large school group camping at the far end. Walking dogs was tough due to the group campsite - they had about 30 canoes parked at the kayak landing so accessing the trails nearby was near impossible. We took dogs to small beach closer to the entrance of creek area to do their business.

Located in the Wye River East (Back Wye), about three miles beyond Shaw Bay and five miles for Green 1W at the mouth of the river, Dividing Creek provides excellent protection against heavy weather coming from all directions except the south where protection is only good. Enter with 10 foot depths mlw and proceed back to the anchorage icon for a depth of 8 feet mlw. Wind, wave, current, and wake protection are excellent in and there is a minimum width of 200 feet of deep water channel to the icon. The bottom is mud. We held well on our third anchoring attempt which is unusual. Care should be taken to make sure the anchor is properly set before turning your attention to other things.

Wye Island is a nature resource management area and Dividing Creek is in the middle of it all. Although the interior of the island is farmed, the shoreline on both sides of the creek is wooded with no houses. There are several nature trails running through the woods. At the head of the creek on the western shore there is a primitive kayak/canoe launch area that provides minimal shore access. For Fido there are two better beaches on small sandy spots either side of the entrance to the creek. Cell reception is only fair on the three major carriers and our internet speeds (less than 2mbps) reflected this. The natural beauty of the creek and the protection afforded make this a great stop to decompress and ride out bad weather. We stayed here for three days and left refreshed. Definitely one of the best anchorages we have stayed in.

This is a beautiful anchorage. The shoreline has many trees down but there are still several excellent spots to anchor. We went to the head of the creek off the last cove to the east. There used to be a landing at a group camping site but it is now just a muddy beach with a timber to tie up on. However it is worth it to have access to the natural area and hiking paths. This is an exceptional anchorage.
