Exposed to the south and east. Can be a good place to anchor in a northerly, but if the wind veers northeasterly (which it almost always will in New England) the sound will kick up and make the anchorage untenable. In calm conditions it is a good spot. Will be crowded on weekends and summer holidays. Downtown Milford can be accessed via a town dock all the way up at the north end of the harbor on the east side near some baseball fields. Groceries are available from several stores, all about 1.5 miles from the dinghy dock. Many good bars and restaurants within walking distance as well.

LOA: 27'
Draft: 4.0'Overall Rating:4Holding:5Wind Protection:3Anchored overnight in August, up close behind Charles Island, very well protected from 12+ kt. SW winds and waves, which break over the bar and go no further. Easy access from the Sound. Read the charts closely and watch you depth meter, but you can get close to the island.
