Wind was light. Boat traffic died down as night approached. It was a beautiful spot. We had weak T-Mobile signal.

There is a minimum of 10 feet of water all the way back to the anchorage icon. Scouting around we found no less than eight feet of water in the area with room for at least four to six boats. Excellent wind protection, good wake protection due to the fact that high speed travel on the river seems to be frowned on. There is no current to speak in the anchorage. Cell reception was good for the Big Three Carriers. No shore access in the area.
Goat Island is 10.5 miles from the South Mills Lock. Allow time in the morning to make the lock going no more than seven or eight knots to keep wake damage to the shoreline minimal. There are several "no wake" zones on the way up to the lock.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Nice pleasant stay. Wakes from passing boats but not too bad. The depths vary would advise to use Navionics crowd sourced information to see where the shallows are. Pleasant place to chill out and enjoy. We anchored in 8-9 feet of water.
