Take the dinghy across the ICW three-quarters of a mile to the park dock at the western tip of Capers Island.
The trail from the dock leads to the ocean beach after passing an impounded lake, which is home to numerous alligators.

Set on first attempt closer to the entrance of the channel. Huge tidal swing, starting a 12ft depth and saw up to 18 at high tide, so give some extra scope if coming in at low tide. Depths drop off straight away from shore, but still could be a little skinny if winds are high. We had a calm night and slept like babies. Nice little dinghy ride to the inlet and walk on the beach.

It was somewhat difficult for us to set anchor but we were successful and slept well through the night. Limited traffic in the anchorage but plenty of room for multiple vessels. It was a little breezy without much cover present in the low country here but it made for a comfortable stay without bugs.

Depths are shallower than reported. Bottom is mud and shell. Took us five attempts to set our scoop anchor. Strong current but easy on/off access to the AICW. Overnight bugs were minimal but in the morning, lots of mosquitoes came out for breakfast.

Nice anchorage situated close to Charleston Harbor. We initially tried the "Red Marker #90" anchorage just north, but lack of available charts made us reluctant as approach was very shallow. By contrast, Whiteside has plenty of depth and a good set. The creek stays relatively deep even around the bend. No wakes from ICW and very secluded. There is predictable moderate tidal current.

October 30,2021 anchored here with mild winds. Anchor set first try. Two boats spent the night here this time. Also anchored here in late March 2019. Good TV reception, cell phones also. Only one mild wake while here. You could dingy to the state park as suggested easily. I have anchored by the state park a few times and like that spot better usually as it is wider with more swing room. But sometimes people party by the state park especially on weekends and wake you on their way in and out.

Spent one night in early April 2021. Tried to anchor up river past the bend but found very poor holding. Came back out and anchored mid channel about 1/2 way between entrance and bend with no issues.
Took dingy about 5 minutes (on plane) east to state park for exploring. Dinghy dock in very poor condition, but usable. Dingy dock is located on the north side of the Capers Inlet channel at Lat: N 32° 51.530' Lon: W 079° 42.474’. See satellite photo for dinghy dock location.

About1/4 mile walk to large deserted beach along trail. Well worth the trip.

No where to land a dog at anchorage, but the dock and park works fine for that.

9-29-18. Been here many times-one of our favorites. Good holding, beautiful scenery, no boat traffic, not much tide flow. Stay to mid channel coming in- easy in and out.
