Our hook set quickly in the typical sandy/mud bottom; Pumpkin Key provided a nice break from the NE-NNE winds. It was quiet and only one other boat for company. It would have been nice if the lights ashore had ever gone out, but otherwise we have no complaints about this quick and easy spot for an overnight stay.

Navigable waters on all sides allows shelter from winds and waves. One night we had a few wasps bother us, and lifted anchor to move further from the island. Peaceful, few other boats here, and scenery is nice.

It was pleasant but I would anchor away from the island since even where we were I could hear a few mosquitoes whizzing by. I didn't get any bites but it was February.

No amenities, we did have large lightning storms during the night and 40 knot winds. We held with no issues.

Stay to the west side of the island or you get traffic wakes from the mainland. Good holding in a sandy type bottom, but open to the nw waves and wind.

Loads of room and shallow so there's an option of putting out a lot of rode and being able to stay even in rough weather
