We nosed right up to Peterson Key Bank and spent a quiet, restful night with 15 kt NE winds. The bank and its grassbeds kept the wave action suppressed despite the long fetch. We had a straight shot downwind the next morning to pass under the Channel Five bridge to make the next leg (to Marathon) down Hawk Channel.
Didn't see much of an opportunity for anything of interest ashore, and so we didn't even try.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Anchorage is protected from east winds, which we had. Typical Florida keys bottom, grass and sandy mud. We found a sandy spot and the anchor held fine in 10 - 15 mph E winds. Didn't launch the dinghy, so can't comment on going ashore. But we had a pleasant overnight stay.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Residential area with a few small resorts. Didn’t try to go to shore so take my low rating with a grain of salt for pets and shore acess.
