There is more water than the charts indicate. On leaving the GIWW you will pass over a hump with no less than 7' MLW and then move into anchoring waters with 10-12' MLW depths all the way to the anchorage icon and beyond to the far corner of the bay where protection is better but there is more daytime boat traffic. Great holding in mud with no current but plenty of swing room for over 10 50' boats in a line with ample individual swing room.
There is moderate boat traffic through the anchorage during the day, but it quickly drops off after dark. Road noise from the causeway is present but not loud enough to interfere with normal conversations unless an emergency vehicle comes by with lights and siren. There is no current in the anchorage but there is plenty of swing room. Local shore access is not possible. We moved up into the far corner, well beyond the anchorage icon and found 11' of water and excellent wind protection from the southerly winds. Wind protection from the NE to the SE is poor but is good to excellent from all other points. Definitely a good place to stage for an early trip across Tampa Bay. Cellular service is excellent for the Big Three.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Stay to the north side of the inlet, nearer to the Isle of Palm shore, and you will find no less than 7' of water even at low tide.
