We'd take one like this every night of the week! The hook set on the first try, came up with large gray chunks of mud, but washed clean easily. Wind protection from everywhere except the south. The topper was a coyote howling at night! Excellent stop!

Very good protection from wind. Anchored in 5 feet past the sunken sailboat. Good holding in mud. No shore access, it's all swamp.

We had 6-7' north of the WWG icon. To the south of the icon are exposed pilings (charted) and a sunken sailboat with its mast out of the water (uncharted). Completely surrounded by forest and marsh, quiet and peaceful. Our second time here and one if our favorites. Did not go ashore. Two bars of T-Mobile reception.

When I arrived there was one other sailboat and another arrived that evening. There are occasional boaters that will come in to the bayou to play but they were all gone by nightfall. I can think of no better anchorage along the ICW in Alabama.
Great mud holding even though not much holding is needed. 8 feet of depth in center. Bayou hooks to West where you will find it the smoothest and quietest but not room for more than one or two sailboats. Easily enough room for a dozen or so boats between the entrance and the curve.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
