Dropped our anchor in 12 feet of water, about 50' from shore. Used a stern line. Our buddy boat rafted to us and dropped their anchor to help against swing. We asked a tow captain if we were good there and he said yes. We were good with his wake and two more that came through at night. The highlight was watching a tow and barge pass by at night all lite up.

It is a deep anchorage though, which made me nervous. Anchored in 17' of water. It was paradise.

Stay to the north/center part of the channel on entering. Saw a dead head at the mouth of the creek just port of center. Hook held on first try. Nice quiet evening.

Great stay. Steve and staff were wonderful. A little tricky getting in but Steve talks you in. Laundry wash and dry $1 each. Shower/restroom clean. Use of courtesy car was wonderful to reprovision and check out near by restaurants and attractions. We visited the visitor center which was the first home of Tennessee Williams. Walked through Friendship Cemetery.

Anchored closer to second bend to protect us from NNW winds. Got lucky on first try setting hook. Our buddy boat tried 5 times, eventually rafted to us. Seemed to be more rocky than mud. Anchored in 20 ft of water. Although we swung greater than 180, we held.

After 3 days of anchoring and tying up, Alton Marina was a welcome stop. Took advantage of their AGLCA special and booked 10 days. Fueled up, topped off water, and pumped out . Wi-Fi was good. Bathrooms/showers were clean and appointed. Deli was great. Robert the Marina Manager was wonderful during are stay and when I was trying to make arrangements for our stay. Can not say enough about this marina. Mac's Downtown was our favorite restaurant. We would stay here again.

A huge thank you to this staff for going above and beyond to take care of probably 200 Loopers that needed extended stay over a course of a month. Thank you for taking care of all our packages, taking us to Walmart and the grocery store and extending your season. We appreciate and thank each of you. Jodi and Karen MV Dos Gatos Locos.

Loved this stop. It is an old lock wall to tie up to. Not in the best shape but we new that going in. Fran and her family were wonderful helping us in and getting tied up and electric hooked up. We didn't check out the restroom and shower but heard they were good. Would stay here again.

We stayed here after a rough trip down from Joliet. Asked for one body for help catching lines, they gave us 4. It was a wonderful stay. We were able to borrow the courtesy car twice. The restaurant on site was fantastic! Jeremy gives a great detailed briefing about continuing on south on the river. Anchorages, water levels and locks. This is a stop not to miss.

Hit a granite shelf in the small craft channel. Friends of ours who damaged their prop a week before us came here and were very happy. We limped to Little Current and had Boyles Marina take care of us. Family business for over 40 years. They took very good care of us. They hauled us out and were able to run electric to our boat, which allowed us to stay on it. It took time to acquire new parts but they had us fixed and back in the water in two weeks. We were very appreciative.

Stopped here on our 4th day on The Loop. Tina, the HaborQueen was very welcoming. She gave us codes for showers/restrooms/ laundry. They charge $1 a foot, no charge for electric. We were very happy with our stay. Going to sound crazy but their drinking water is the best, ranked 3rd in the country(or state) Fill your tanks people.
