It is nice to find a marina that checks all the boxes. The marina is very well maintained. It is protected due to its long thin layout. The whole town (ok, small town) literally surrounds the marina. You could eat at a different restaurant each day for a week if you stay long enough. The grocery story is at the end of the dock, and the liquor store just a 3 min walk. Lots of hiking trails as the Bruce Peninsula trail ends (or starts?) just a short walk from the marina. Fuel prices are less than the rest of the area marinas. But what really makes this marina shine is the Harbour Master, Carla. She is attentive and seems to work way more hours than I think she is being paid for. It was rare if I didn't see her walking around the marina directing her staff or talking to boaters. It is well worth the trip to stop here. It is a tourist town and there a lots of sight seeing boats and a ferry working the marina. If you get a slip toward the end of the marina you won't even notice them. If you don't want to interact with the tourist, I suggest not using the wall, but one of the finger slips. We came for 2 nights and stayed for 3 weeks!

Marina Review for Wiarton Marina Ltd.

It is a shame that I have to give this marina only 2 stars when I think the problem is with the municipality. The prices here are excessive for what you get. $2.25 ft/day for 50 amp dockage (there are only two 50 amp plugs so confirm availability and placement unless you have a very long cord). The marina is ok, but not worth that price. Diesel was $2.60 litre! When I asked them about the high cost since we just paid $2.30 litre 2 days prior in Victoria Harbour, and everywhere else on the bay seemed to be $2.45 or less, they stated "things get pricey as you go north"! Not true as we travelled 60 miles north to Tobermory and the diesel was $2.20 litre there the same day, and dockage was $2.00. Nicer marina to boot. It always amazes me how short sighted some municipalities are. Charge to much and the boaters (customers) will just go somewhere else to spend their money at the stores and restaurants. Maybe the township just doesn't care. I cared enough to move on. I hope you are paying attention Wiarton.

Marina Review for Historic Port of Penetanguishene

Several marinas in Penetang, but this is the best located dock for access to the town. 50 amp service is available on the outside. Price was OK, $1.50 ft, $1.70 ft with 30 amp, $1.80 with 50 amp. No water hook ups. Be prepared to be bounced around a bit by the yahoos leaving the other marinas without respect. I would recommend stopping here for the 4 hours free dock between the hours of 9 am to 6 pm in the day to re-provision easily, then if you want to stay overnight go to Hindsons or Beacon Bay for a more pleasant (less bouncy) dockage. Kurt the Harbour Master was great. Knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant.

Small, but beautiful marina. Very well protected by large stone breakwalls encircling the entire marina. Website seems out of date, showing 50 amp service, but there is now only 30 amp available. Easy walk into the sweet little Ontario town with numerous shops and restaurants. Enjoyed out stay.
