Marina Review for Oasis Marinas at Fernandina Harbor

Staff were great helping with the lines, securing our boat even with a strong current at the time.
Marina is steps away from then old town that has lots of restaurants and shops.
We were fortunate to arrive during the Christmas celebration, Dickens on Centre.
We were on the outside with a port tie and had a lot of wave action on our stern created by the wind and tide during an ebbing tide.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

When 1/2 mile in to the first bend and found a spot with 18 feet at high tide. Hooked first try played out 100 ft of chain. By the anchor alarm we spent most of the night sitting on the chain until 1/2 way on the out going tide.
No bugs at all but it is the middle of December. North bound in. I would think spring would be much different.
No wind protection.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Anchorage Review for Morehead City - Sugar Loaf Island (south)

Sugar Loaf Island appears to have a few sandy areas to land your dinghy to stretch yours and the fur babies. Lots of restaurants near by.
We didn't have a problem with wakes but it was a cold weekday.
We will use this anchorage again.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Bridge comment on Alligator River (US 64) Bridge

With the steady stream of boats traveling north the bridge may not be opened on "your" demand as the boat with full sails up expected would happen, they were asked to wait for ten minutes so that a group of boats could use the same opening during rush hour.
The bridge operator did a great job managing both types traffic.
Still asking for the Coast Guard documentation number.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

We had to wait for 45 minutes while a fuel barge was being filled but I'm not complaining, its well worth the wait for fresh fuel at over a dollar a gallon less than the marina 300 yards to the south.
Purchase of 100 gallons or more needed.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

After the "get home from the sand bar for dinner" rush finished, it became a very nice anchorage. We are still here on Monday and it's totally different with very few boat passing by.
We didn't go a shore so we can't comment on access or shopping.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Anchored in the dark on our way north after not feeling comfortable with previous spots that we checked out. We didn't go as for as the pin on the map maybe 300 yards off the ICW and anchored in 12 feet of water an hour after low tide.
Pretty spot to watch the sunrise over the marsh.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

We ended up anchoring closer to the yacht club in 20 feet without a problem. FYI we had a 7.2 foot tidal swing during our stay.
