For now this dock is free, but there is some movement in trying to charge $1.25 per foot. Until then, it's about as good of a free dock as you'll find. Adjacent to several sites including a stellar Farmers Market, Ace Hardware and several restaurants. There is no security as it is a city dock. Solid floating dock right on the Hudson, but wake issues weren't much of a problem.

The place is ok. The have a water fontaine for kids at the dock exit. It was welcome with the 32°C outside temperature. I call the dockmaster at the dock. He seem to have trouble with canadian French as I found it the hard way when my cellphone stop working. I call him back and he yell at me that he as enough of canadian french. There is a price chopper at 25 minutes walk and good restaurents all around

This is a 200 foot long floating dock in good condition on LDB just south of the Federal Street Bridge and just before the Troy Downtown Marina. Dock is aluminum and in excellent condition with a depth of about 20' MLW and a six foot tide. There is supposed to be pay-meter at the top of the gangway but it not in place. According to the marina dockmaster, until it is installed there is no charge for day use. There are no facilities on the dock but it is located right next the the Saturday Farmers Market, a large ACE hardware store, a CVS pharmacy, and several good restaurants. It is also 1 hour south of Waterford and the start of the Erie Canal. A good place to stop for an hour or two and get some shopping done.
