We were boarded by someone at 11:00 PM. I was sleeping but my wife was in the salon when someone stepped on the boat. And tried to open the door. She turned the outside lite on and yelled to get off our boat. We were told there shouldn't be any issues but to keep any thing valuable out of site and our doors locked. From the time we docked all our shades were pulled shut so that no one could see in. We notified Parks Canada at the next lock. Great location after a hot humid day of waiting and looking.

Additional information for my post:
Boats can tie up to the metal fence poles on the port side of the canal (the same side as where the power is located) if there is no room where the power is located. Running the generator is allowed before 10:00 pm.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

The "free" wall is on the port side of the canal as you exit the flight of eight locks. The 30A outlets are in the base of the light poles along the dock. The 50A outlets are for the tour boats. The area had been mostly cleared of the homeless camps that have plagued this area (there were still some people hanging out under the bridge due to a rain storm). The Visitor's Centre is located across from the Parliament Building. The Byward Market (a 3 block square area) has many stores and small shops, and many places to eat. The large CF Rideau mall is across the street from the market area. Farm Boy store is on the first floor and has a decent selection of food items (it is like a Trader Joe's in the states). The Loblaws grocery store is several blocks past the mall and is a large grocery store with much cheaper prices.

22-24 Jun 2023. Stayed on this wall after transiting the Rideau from Kingston to Ottawa. 30 Amp Power (there are a few 50 Amps, but they are up near the tour boats and were taken. Great spot to tour downtown. You can stay two nights on the wall. Parks Canada Office just northwest to pay or they will come to you. We had the seasonal mooring and locking pass, so just had to pay for hydro each night. It is first come first served. Just be sure you secure your boat and take precautions like you would in any big city. Lots of restaurants in the Byward Market. Parliament Tours done online. We did all three buildings. Uber took us to the Air and Space Museum. Tour the Laurier House! And get a Beaver Tail! Sam and Rev on WhatYachtToDo.com
