We enjoyed our stay here and extended our visit an extra day. Even though it was a slow time of year the restaurant and shop was open.
We had a long walk to the restroom but they were in good shape.
It's in a busy enough area where getting an Uber/Lyft wasn't much of a problem.
We had to ask where the marina office was since it's somewhat hidden behind the restaurant. The people working there weren't the friendliest but seemed okay with us staying an extra day.

We liked this marina and the area so extended our stay a few extra days. The harbormaster was very friendly and helped with a pumpout. He showed us the slip and we were able to get in easily.
There are quite a few restaurants around the area and the shops are within easy walking distance.
Bathrooms were a bit of a walk and we were worried at first since they seemed to be in some kind of portable building, but they were warm and clean.
Some of the other boaters came by and were very friendly and had some good info on the area as well.
Water levels were low during the winter and we left at low tide. We slid a bit in the mud on the way out but had no problems.

We stopped here to get fuel and stayed for one night. The harbormaster was very friendly. I thought the docks were okay although I didn't walk around much to check the others out This time of year (early February) it was slow so we were the only boat on the pier. It's a bit of a walk to the restrooms but they were clean.
You can walk to the nearby casinos fairly easily and it's easy to get a cab or Uber/Lyft from there.

We were originally only going to be here one night but ran into mechanical problems. The office staff were great to work with and they extended our stay with no problem.
The water was low this time of year but we made it in with no problem. When we left we were able to turn the boat around in the channel again with no problem.
The bathrooms were a bit of a walk and there's only one shower. We didn't use the laundry but they had some coin-op machines available.
The nearby grill was good but otherwise there's not much around. It's a bit expensive to get Uber/Lyft out there so we ended up getting a rental car once we realized we were going to be there a while.
When we arrived they radioed some dock hands to come help us with the boat, but the transient slip is on a large t-head and nobody else was there so pulling in was easy.

Spent a few nights here waiting for the weather to clear. It's a bit tight coming in but the transient slip was at the t-head and easy to get to. The people we dealt with were all very friendly and the price was great.
In early January there wasn't much activity other than a few work boats coming in and out and people using the fuel dock. It's fairly well protected from the shipping channel too.
Not much here within walking distance other than a small convenience store.

We stayed here a few nights in early January, so factor that into our review. We were the only boat there except a large yacht which I think is always there.
When we first arrived we called the front desk and they sent a security guard in a truck to pick us up. They usually use a golf cart but it was cold and windy. Security guard wasn't thrilled but brought us to the front desk. The rest of the time we just did the 1/4 mile walk to/from the marina.
Power/water at the slip was good. The bathrooms are a bit of a walk. The men's bathroom was dirty and the water pressure was low so I didn't bother using the shower.
Moody Gardens themselves were neat, and you get a discount for staying there.
The marina itself was just okay though, and kind of pricey considering the time of year we were there.

  • Bridge comment on Pelican Island Causeway Bridge

This bridge may not be open for marine traffic. Back in May, 2024 a barge hit the bridge. It was open to vehicle traffic, but according to a local it won't open for boat traffic (possibly for a long time). I tried going through there during scheduled hours and nobody responded to radio calls.

    • WG Editor Comment:

There is nothing in the Notice to Mariners indicating this. WG call will attempt to call the bridge.
