Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera, BAH

Hatchet Bay Harbour was formed when the man-made entrance was cut through limestone cliffs into a landlocked pond, much like the Bay of Five Pirates at Great Harbour in the Berry Islands. It was developed to support a cattle-raising project but now caters to mariners and potential developers.

This fabled Bahamian hideaway is known affectionately as "Briland." Several generations of visitors return each year to their pastel-painted cottages which are sprinkled like colored Easter eggs throughout the now well-populated island. There is still a wonderfully relaxed feeling here, despite the bumper-to-bumper golf carts during holiday periods on narrow flower-lined streets. Don't miss the iconic pink sand beaches!

The Waterway Guide Team has gained extensive boating knowledge over the years, and now we are sharing all of the tips, skills and tools we’ve picked up along the way!
