Good holding in muddy bottom. Good protection from NE wind. Good depth. Large area can accommodate a lot of boats. Beautiful view of the Miami skyline at sunset and sunrise. Short ride to Port Miami channel to ocean.

Draft: 4.0'Overall Rating:4Holding:5Wind Protection:3Current Flow:4Wake Protection:2Scenic Beauty:3Cell Service:3Very good holding on a Mantus: thick, claylike mud with little, if any, grass (where we set the anchor). Overnight, squalls blew through with west winds (near-maximum fetch for this location) that topped 35-40kt for an hour. We didn't budge.
There is a lot of room here, and a good thing, too, because Sunday afternoon/evening meant quite a few boats anchored and partying. By nightfall though, all but one power boat and three sailboats had departed. The powerboat left around midnight. It was—except for the storms—quiet and peaceful.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Known locally as Nixon's Beach named after the location of the Florida Whitehouse when RMX was president. There is a very large wharf like structure in front of his 2 story house that is actually the helipad used by Marine One back in the day. Today it is used as dock for visiting mega yachts.

There were lots of wakes, activity and noisy boats through the night. We went to town dingy dock for provisions. On the way back we were informed that the police had been there earlier, a Zodiac motor had been stolen, even-though it had been locked on the dink. Lots of great restaurants to choose from.

Do mind the shoals off West Point and stay well south of them. Winds from the west (rare) can set up choppy conditions due to long fetch from mainland coast.
