Dunmore Town- Harbour Island

Description:
There is a wide space between Valentines Marina and Romora Bay Marina that provides good protection from north through south and reasonable protection from south through north, although strong west winds will make the anchorage choppy. The best holding is in +10' of water as the bottom becomes hard closer to shore. The challenge with this anchorage is that going ashore requires a longish dinghy ride to the government dock or at the fishermen's pier at Fort Point which is north of the government dock.

This island has some of the best infrastructure I've seen in the Bahamas. The anchorages are good for all but heavy west winds. There is some filly action due to small boat traffic but it's not too bad. Going ashore requires taking the dinghy to the beach next to government dock. You cannot land on the dock itself, so be prepared for the beach landing. No surf though.
