Nice deep water anchorage out of the way of GIWW traffic. Anchored in about 12 feet of water (just past high tide) and the holding was solid. The Sabine River current will oppose a southerly breeze almost suspending you over your anchor. We had a good breezy overnight that kept mosquitos at bay, but I can imagine they would be vicious on a calm night.

Nice stop after a 100 mile day coming from the Shell Island anchorage on the Sabine River. We touched bottom on the way in (high tide) so heed the other reviewers comments about angle of approach favoring the fuel dock side of the entrance. Shore power worked and made for a nice break from being on the generator. Make certain you fender your vessel properly. The side tie is metal and a bit rusty. It will have no mercy on your gel coat if a fender pops out. Make sure to adjust fender height with the tide.

Nice overnight stop. Pretty good current in the ICW made for an exciting entrance. Made it, but thought I touched bottom on the way to the side tie w/ 4' draft at high tide. Maybe my imagination? Walked to a nearby Mexican Food restaurant for takeout as they were about to close (Sunday night, Memorial Day weekend). This was the end of a 100 mile day, so the stop was most welcome.

This is a first class marina with excellent facilities. We spent two nights. Floating docks with staff that will help with the dock lines and greet you with a smile. There is gourmet steakhouse on site and we enjoyed a very nice dinner. Pet friendly with a fenced dog run. It’s a short Uber ride to any of Galveston’s tourist locations.
