Nice and clean, easily accessed fuel dock and pumpout. Friendly service available at our 2 am arrival. Laundry and bathhouse. Be aware: Mosquitoes are around, be prepared. Caution on approach that the far extending jetties can be under water/waves. Stay in the channel. We heard VTS warn an approaching boat to change course or run over them. Nice place. Too far from shops, restaurants or stores and expensive for hiring a ride due to location being far from town. Still a great stopover, with water and electricity and easy back to offshore or onto ICW.

The website states 75 slips. We just drove to the marina and took photos. The docks shown on the website: on the right are missing, the center dock has half the slips missing and the left side has sunken dock slips. My boats are actually in the website photo. A long time ago it was really nice. But repairs weren't made and docks sank. We left. My advice…. Steer clear.

  • Marina Review for Kemah Boardwalk Marina

This marina has nice clean bathrooms and showers, a small pool, and laundry facilities with covered picnic tables and vending machines where you can look at the boats while you wait. Weekends offer a bed and breakfast type experience with muffins, juice and coffee, etc. The real fun is stepping out, turning left and walking to the Kemah Boardwalk with its amusement park rides, restaurants and shops. A free appetizer coupon is provided for the Boardwalk restaurants. Thursday nights feature live music as does the weekend. If you want off the boat, the hotel in the Boardwalk is very nice and very reasonable. Turn to the right as you leave the marina and visit boutique shops, seaside shops and more as you walk past many restaurants, an ice cream parlor and more towards the gazebo park. There is a lot to keep you busy and entertained. If you need boat items, West Marine and Blackburn Marine are a couple of miles away. There are also large grocery stores, Target and such within a couple of miles. The other positive aspect is you won’t have depth problems getting in and out of the Marina. It’s outside of the 146 bridge (undergoing construction in 2021) which results in channel closures on one or both sides. There is fuel located by going under that bridge to a different marina. Just check on the bridge status that might affect the channel before planning to fuel there. Channels will be impacted through at least August 2021. This is 2.5 years into a 5 year road project. Check Coast Guard bulletins on the Clear Creek Channel.

We love this small marina. It only has a few transient slips and floating docks. The other slips are occupied by commercial tourist vessels for sightseeing and more. The fun part is being next to the tall ship Elissa, which is berthed next door and walking distance of just about everything. The marina gives a dining freebie (appetizer or dessert type) at Willie G’s and Fisherman’s Wharf. It is within walking distance of the Strand, the Ocean Star museum and railroad museum. There’s also a small convenience/grocery store close by. There’s a lot to do for fun and entertainment, and many restaurants to choose from. The Galveston Island Trolley picks up in the Strand and can take you to Seawall Blvd with many more entertainment, shopping and restaurant options, as well as the beach. The marina does have key card bathrooms, but no showers. Water and electricity are provided, but no pumpout or fuel. It’s a good vacation spot and you can watch the cruise ships sail pass.

Harborwalk has a ship’s store with a variety of items from gifts to groceries to boat maintenance. It has a deli sandwich service. The restaurant on site, should open soon. Bath houses are clean and nice. Laundry room is in the bath house. The pools are beautiful. There’s plenty of places to walk. The docks have wide finger piers running the length of the boats. Docks are floating, lighted and have electricity and water. It’s a beautiful place. If you don’t have a car, be prepared to stay in the marina. There are restaurants and shopping nearby, but not walking distance. There’s also a fuel dock and pumpout.
