October 18 2023 stopped here to make a short walk to Food Lion again. Arby's and Auto-zone close also if needed. This year construction going on so it was noisy but that is not the normal. This is our normal stop to get groceries as we migrate North and South yearly. We do not stay overnight here. Four star for convenience of the stop. Make sure to only pull in at the bulkhead only as a short way in channel are rocks near the shoreline. Bulkhead is about 70' with cleats to tie to.

Get here early enough before the bridge opening to run to Food Lion grocery a block away. Never reached anybody at bridge/lock by phone. Ch13 radio as we approached. Very friendly and helpful once in contact.
Great place to stay at night for first opening but expect car noise until later in evening.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Stopped here for the 8:30 lock the next day. Auto Zone, Food Lion, Arby's and 7-11 are short walks from the bulkhead. There was some noise from the traffic crossing the bridge, but it died down early.

Great place to stop for provisioning. Not a great place to spend the night. Lots of traffic noise. Provision here then go to Elizabeth dock.

We've been through the Deep Creek Lock and Dismal Swamp Canal, but never noticed this dock and park. Needing to go to a local birthday party for our youngest great grandson and missing the first lock opening, we pulled into the Elizabeth Dock for the first time. In-and-out and on-and-off was easy. There were other boaters here, too. While the lock is operating believe you can use their facilities. The lock master enjoys the boaters and is a practiced local historian. Robert gathers the boaters first thing in the morning providing coffee and pastries for a 8 am coordination meeting, so everyone knows the morning locking / bridge operating process, as he also finds out the number of boaters leaving, staying a second day, and those projected to be heading north and south (above and below the Lock / Bridge). This exercise and operation is interesting and worth a day if you have it to stay over an extra day.

Lousy ambiance. But it's one of the only places on the ICW with a grocery store (Food Lion) and auto parts store (Auto Zone) across the street. Plan on arriving before the bridge opening to take advantage of this stop.
