Florida ICW: Fort Lauderdale Area
Nearly 300 miles of mostly navigable inland waterways carve through the Fort Lauderdale area making it the “Venice of America.” With the Atlantic Ocean surf to the east and the traffic-laden ICW running north and south the city is conspicuously water-oriented. The New River and its tributaries cut through the center of town and manmade side canals sprout in all directions.
