Grand Lucayan Waterway, Grand Bahama Island, BAH

If you are heading for the Abacos from the southeast coast of Florida, the Grand Lucayan Waterway, almost 5 nm east of the Bell Channel, may provide you with a shortcut to the Little Bahama Bank. Unfortunately, vessel size, draft and a 27-foot fixed bridge limit its use. The waterway was the largest engineering feat ever attempted in the Bahamas.
