Likely the best beach next to a free dock. We stayed on the east side. It was much quieter than the west dock, but east has rings instead of cleats and is much higher. The amusement park is close by and fun for kids and adults alike. A beautiful park by the beach to walk the dogs. Loved this beautiful spot. Wish we could have stayed longer, but weather window forced us to cross the lake the next day.

Likely the most organized marina we have visited. Welcomed right from the start by a dock hand at the fuel dock. Which I might add is the lowest price fuel we have seen since Delaware. Bathrooms looked new, modern and super clean. Two courtesy cars, which we used to get some Chinese and a quick Walmart supply run. The parts department is huge and has just about any part imaginable. Dock was easy to get in and out. Super quiet. Marina made us feel special. What a fantastic stop.

We stayed one night at this best beautiful park-like setting lock wall. The wall is in excellent condition with plenty of cleats. Dock anywhere once the fence starts before between lock 7 and the first bridge. Lots of well groomed grass for dogs to get some exercise. Wall is low enough to walk off the swim platform. Fence has openings to pass through. Very few locals use the park. Super quiet, no trains, no wake after the locks close at 5pm. Within walking distance to town and NAPA auto parts close by across the river, should that be a need. Loved this spot and will definitely stay here again.

Really nice docks. We docked on the south side concrete wall. Some light rolling action all night, but worth such a beautiful location. Very Quiet with stunning sunset views. Dock is in excellent condition.

We loved our stay at the Athens free dock. The park is full of life. In the summer they have live music every Friday night. Pizza from Stella's by the park is cheap, huge and very delicious. No power or water. Stayed here for two nights because Waterford was closed for 3 days for a dragon boat festival.

We had a terrible thunderstorm followed by strong winds from the north making northbound travel on the Chesapeake miserable.

We decided on this protected cove. No waves, just a little breeze, near perfect place to anchor and relax.

Room for a good dozen boats

    Anchored in good holding 8ft.

Love this spot, will use it again given the opportunity

We stayed here after a long day from Cape May. We were so worn out from the rolling seas of the Atlantic that this anchorage was well received. Good Holding in 14ft. Just remember that the tide is around 5ft and let enough scope out to accommodate. Had some slap from southerly winds

    • WG Editor Comment:

Tide at the time per reviewer: I believe it was 2 hours from low tide. We arrived 18:33 and low tide was around 20:00

The entire Anchorage east of the USCG is blocked by barges and pipes. We hugged a tiny area just east of the USCG pier, enough for one boat. Coast Guard did not come by, even though we expected it since we were within 100 feet of their dock.

We stayed here one night. Floating dock is short, one 40ft. We stayed on the high wall which had to horizontal rows of rubber bumpers, which was really nice. Power was 30 amp and was included in the $1/ft per night. No water. Showers, toilet and laundry are included. Park is very nice for walking dogs. The only negative as most of the Erie is the train is literally next door. Contact (518) 384-5621 for dock fees. Restaurant looks nice but was closed

The staff here are so kind. Showers and toilets were clean. Docking was free with power and water for $10/night. We really appreciated that we could send our Amazon packages here for some boat parts. Stayed two nights. Unrelated, the Chinese food across the river, New Beijing of Troy, is a 10 minute walk was really good. $10 for combos with no MSG and only vegetable oil.

We stayed here two nights. $1/ft incl water and electric. Access to shore toilets, shower and laundry. During our visit there was a concert at the marina park that included food trucks and fantastic fireworks. Boat was the best seat in the house. Relatively quiet and not much in wakes or current. Nice and close to town for supplies. Highly recommend this stop.

Newer West dock looks like a floating dock, but it's fixed. About 4 looper boats fit. We docked in about 10ft at the West dock. There is no water or electric.

The old East dock is in serious dangerously disrepair. Big bolts exposed were dock wood has rotted away. There is power but docks are too dangerous in my opinion.

The park is nice and well kept. Perfect for walking dogs. Showers and laundry are across the street at the Navigation center.

Lots of shops from Aldi to hardware stores within walking distance.

    We really liked this place.
