Daytona Beach, FL
Riverfront Park is bordered by shops and eateries on one side and Halifax River on the other. The park's 0.5-mile walkway starts just north of the main yacht basins and is a great place for water-weary boaters to stretch their legs. A moving stop in the park is the gravesite of Brownie the Town Dog who was "owned by no one but loved by all." Should you need more exercise, 23 miles of wide sand beaches are nearby, as well as the iconic boardwalk and pier, a bandstand and a splash park, playground and picnic areas. The Daytona Flea & Farmers Market is open weekends 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with fruit and vegetables, clothing and jewelry plus a monthly classic car show (1425 Tomoka Farms Rd., 386-253-3330).
If you have transportation, tours are available of the famous Daytona International Speedway, which hosts events like the Daytona 500. This is also home to the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America (800-748-7467).
