The night we stayed, the wind was very light so there was no issue holding but when we pulled the anchor up, we had a very heavy load of dark thick mud. There is plenty of room in this anchorage and it is easy to go far enough in so you don't feel any ICW wake. There were some hunters out on the water at sunup shooting fowl. Other than that it was a very peaceful anchorage.

Excellent anchorage as described in previous reviews. Lots of room and no issue with tree stumps unlike other anchorages we considered on the river. Chain came up clean, a smattering of mud on the anchor.

Great anchorage, we were only boat there. We had a thunderstorm passing with 30+kn wind and we hold great. Anchor come up full of mud, but chain was clean. Lots of bitting flys in the evening. We had couple of boats passing in the morning into channel. No wake, very calm night after storm passed.

Great wide open anchorage, good depths, S-SE wind died down to nothing overnight. Very comfortable quiet night some mud on chain/anchor when pulled up. No cell service, though sometimes one bar(Verizon)

Exposed to the north but good protection from every other direction. Good holding. Did not budge in steady ~30kt wind. You can go quite a distance away from the ICW to minimize wakes. No shore access, no lights, beautiful nights. No cell coverage.

No cell service but the most beautiful night sky. Saw the Milky Way! Quite a bit of naval air drills in the sky, early evening. Fishermen at sunrise, but a great place to conveniently pull off on the Alligator River.

Safe and easy. The Alligator river bend/bay is big, choose a location that provides wind protection. In season there may be plenty of bugs and fisherman traffic early morning.
