Tangier is a unique community of a little more than 700 people and one of the last true working waterman communities on the bay. A strong Methodism influences local life and the island is dry (no alcohol). When people head for work in the morning they go down to their docks and their white sheds on the water, fire up their boats and head out for a day of crabbing.
