Maryland’s last inhabited island (Smith Island) supports three towns: Ewell, Rhodes Point and Tylerton. A road connects Ewell and Rhodes Point but only boats can reach Tylerton, the third village. Once home to 800 residents Smith Island now has 240 year-round residents.
