Public transportation can get you to the Norfolk Botanical Garden, a 175-acre garden filled with over 40 themed gardens and includes a butterfly house, a children's garden and a rose garden (6700 Azalea Garden Rd., 757-441-5830). The Virginia Zoo should also be on your list. This 53-acre zoo is home to over 500 animals from around the world, including lions, tigers, and giraffes (3500 Granby St., 757-441-2374).
