You'll get more than your money's worth at this fine muni Free Wall w/ 30A shore power and a self-serve pump out station that works very well.

We picked up a mooring ball here. I dialed the telephone number given here in the WWG description.
They said our 39 foot trawler was too big for their moorings. So we simply anchored just outside their mooring field.

Perfectly fine marina. It just isn't close to shopping etc. Shelly liked the free laundry

Someone commented to us, "There is nothing to see in Belleville." But we'll say this:
The Boathouse restaurant is an easy walk from the marina, and it beats the on-premises restaurant by far. So take the short walk!

The food and service was excellent.

Regarding the $2M Liability req. In our experience some of the other municipal marinas in that area technically say one needs to have $2M of liability insurance. But in two cases this past month, we simply sent them a PDF of our declarations page, and asked if it was sufficient, and in both cases, there was NO PROBLEM getting around that "requirement".

+1 for this FANTASTIC anchorage. We went into this cove deeper than the anchor icon shows, and found plenty of water and other boats moored and anchored in there.

Never went ashore. We can't say much about the marina in here just because we did not visit, and their website is still under construction July 2024. My guess is if we had pets to bring ashore, they'd welcome a dinghy visit.

As an anchorage goes, it was the best for us.

We anchored inside the pump station near the yacht club. We did not go ashore. Weeds needed to be cleared from the anchor, but otherwise an excellent, protected anchorage. The only disadvantage is it is a bit off the main travelled way.

In this area we also anchored in Prinyer's Cove behind Cressy Point (VERY nice) for one night, see our review / blog post of that one.

And we spent a few hours anchored in Kerr Bay N side of Amherst Island for an afternoon break. (Weeds were the only drawback in Kerr Bay.)

We totally enjoyed our two nights in this small town. Highly recommend this stop. Other cruisers who were there with us agreed. Flat $20 donation box near dock. Pizza, brewery, very close. The local liquor store will deliver to the dock. Good inventory/selection for such a small town. Reportedly there are "facilities" nearby, perhaps a block away, but we didn't bother.

We tied up on the inside. No issues making the turn in there. Some rolling even on the inside, more on outside as reported by others here. The staff will catch your lines; very friendly.
The VILLAGE of Clayton is a different entity than the MUNICIPAL marina around the corner. So there is no coordination between these two spots.
Antique Boat Museum and restaurants are nearby... worth a half or full day for certain.

Water is crystal clear, 73F for us in July 2024. Almost went for a swim. The clear water showed us all the grass & weeds, but the anchor came up cleaner than we expected. No clogging of bow thruster.

Beautiful real estate / surroundings, well protected. 6 feet of water typically... seemed a bit shallow for our 4 ft draft, but we had no problem coming in by Elephant's Back rock. We'd certainly stay again.

This municipal basin caters to mostly 20-30 ft power boats in slips. Phone number is the public works dept. They will call you back in an hour or three to make a reservation. Their "wall" easily could accommodate 2 or 3 cruisers of 40 feet or more. 30A shore power included at $2/ft. Cash or Check only. Instacart worked well for us here. Barber / hair salon nearby came in handy. Very clean showers and rest rooms. Typical of municipal operations, they are not 100% focused on the marina "business" and service. But it is a good stop on the St Lawrence a day's voyage NE from Boldt Castle etc. Next stop is Cornwall for us heading for Montreal and Richelieu River to Lake Champlain.

The "wall" is HIGH and takes some climbing that Shelly would not have been able to scale, but it was fine for me. The wall is near the opening to St Lawrence River, so some rolling might be possible in rough weather.

There is a full sized municipal swimming pool on premises.

We stayed here in 2021 at the beginning our our Great Loop trip. We loved the people and the new docks. They had a big 50+ footer in here. So there is enough water. BUT I recommend you get someone to talk you in. (start on VHF16) Afternoons are more likely to have volunteer members around to help catch lines etc.

    DOCKWA is the game here.

The club is 100% member owned, and all the staff is volunteer. This makes for a unique "feel" and atmosphere. VERY FRIENDLY folks who will do anything to help you with what you need.

Again, get someone to talk you in thru the channel. They have invested in some dredging equipment to expand their operation, and gone thru all the permitting. $1 for 10 pounds of ice, free 50/30 shore power. Reasonable fee. Clean restrooms/showers. Instacart works, or ask someone for a ride (they may give you their car!). West Marine, shopping of all kinds just a mile or 3 away.

We signed up for 2 nights, then stayed for 2 more, as they had Taco Thursday tonight and bean hole tournament ... winner takes all. They have a bar / lounge here with volunteer members serving you if they are here.... there is always someone here by 2:00pm. Self-serve Pumpout no cost, worked will for us, double fressh water flush!

It is a different type of place, which we LOVE... and have made friends with several here. A great place to get a cheap cocktail with other boaters after finishing the Flight.

Clearly, this is a narrow anchorage. But it is adequate. The south shore is rocky. SO, in the event of a northerly wind, we *might* put out a stern anchor. We arrived a peak flood tide on the Hudson, but did not detect any current in this spot. We pretty much dropped on top of the WWG anchor symbol before the left turn. Everyone goes slow here so, no wake. We would not hesitate to stop here again. 10ft at anchor, 8 ft on entrance on half tide coming up. Slips and condos line the north shore. Woods to the south.

We stayed here for 3 nights this week in fair weather, and waiting for work schedule and tides to not conflict for the trip south through skinny waters to Beaufort SC. It was a great anchorage, not a lot of wake/traffic. Other's comments here are all true.

It is a "big" anchorage, so on a stormy night it could be a bumpy night.

This week we stayed in the sweet cove for the second time. We love it. There was one other boat anchored this time. It is a very protected residential cove. The dinghy dock is "better than nothing" in the NW corner. To be clear, it is only good enough for a dinghy! A big Walmart with groceries is an easy walk one block away. There is a West Marine on the other side of the highway. Safest to Uber to. Then ask another WM customer for a ride back!!! (It worked for me!!!) Lots of other business in that area. So that's why I say 4 or 5 stars for ease of shopping.

There IS a marina in this cove with fuel, pump out and ice... and transient slips. But it lengthens the walk distance to Walmart significantly!

OK... this is our second time staying here, and our second review. The one problem of this spot near G21 is the number of boats during the day that zip past us, without slowing down at all. SO, we neglected to comment on that last time we reviewed this spot, but it is the single most unfortunate characteristic about this anchorage, in our opinion. It is fine after dark... so simply plan to arrive late in the day!

OK... here is our second review. There are no trees around... only swamp land. SO, limited protection from wind. While one can anchor off the ICW, there is a fair amount of small boat traffic (18-24 foot center consoles and runabouts) that won't slow down for a slow pass during the day. So, this is a great anchorage to pull in to LATE in the day! ... and leave before the traffic starts up!
The marsh land will knock down some fetch. Holding is good. You'll swing with the tide.

It IS a decent anchorage in an area where there are few to pick from. We never ventured further away than near G21 to see if it was any better. The water depth is accurately shown on the charts. From the ICW, you are technically heading OUT to sea. So red is on the left / green on right as you enter from the ICW.

We left Carolina Beach State Park very early today to ensure we had good tide water beneath us for their channel. UNFORTUNATELY that meant we were here at 10:30am and had lots of wake / traffic during the day. Perhaps we should have continued on to the anchorage at Mile Hammock mm 244.5.
This not a "bad" anchorage. I suspect we'll stay here again, because it IS in a good location.

Enjoyed our 2nd visit to this anchorage a few nights ago. I noticed when we left in the morning, at high tide, that the MOORING BUOY that everyone passes on their way in to anchor was awash at high tide! Only ripple could be seen… so here are our coordinates as we passed 50 ft west of the mooring's location: 32° 42.558 N 080°11.157 W if you plan to come in at high tide, a waypoint at this spot might be a good idea.

Our first time anchoring in here. It will probably not be our last, as the holding is good. It is a bit narrower than most of our anchorage/creek choices, but it was adequate to swing with wind and current changes.

There was a family anchored and swimming right at the turn when we arrived. There was room enough for us to get by them and go 75 yards or more upstream.

Another good meal at Taco Mundo
*Almost* no room for us coming in on a Saturday afternoon in July, as this area of the ICW is busy on weekends, and this is a destination.

Our beam is 14.5, so backing into most slips would not work. But there are one or two that do not have a piling between the fingers. So we fit in just fine there. We moved around to the wall on the west end just to have fewer "eyes" looking in from the outside restaurant tables.

We were going to simply anchor outside where several other boats were anchored. But there was a decent chop and white caps out of the south, so we decided to continue on into this small cove and check it out. There are plenty of big boats in here tied up to docks at the residences. There was only one other boat on the hook in here. The cove is bigger than it looks like on the chart/maps. We fell in love with this place, and we'll be back fer sure!

Our first visit to West Palm Beach was a few weeks ago on Sat March 18. The popular anchorage between the two free docks was not there?! The annual Int'l Boat Show was coming to town. So, there was a networks of docks and lots of big yachts waiting their turn to be admitted into that area. Fun to listen to all the logistics on VHF 71. SO, we had to anchor in the SW corner of this area between the two bridges. LOTS of current there, so we were often broadside to the wind and weather. Setting a stern anchor solved that problem. It was a New Moon tide, and two sailboats broke free and were run up against the nearby bridge to the south of us.
We returned a few weeks later. The boat show was gone, so we were able to anchor between the two free docks. Much less current in here. There were no boats on the northerly free dock, and it appeared to be cordoned off to boats. Pedestrians were frequenting that longer north dock. The boats tied up to the shorter south dock appeared to stay there for days. So, we tied up and spent one night there. Lyft to get to Publix and Supercuts, got a lot done ashore (without having to pay for a slip!!!).

We stayed here for 2 nights in March 2022.
    An excellent small marina.

Pricilla Patrick is the woman with whom you will make reservations. The $65 fee is for Delray Beach residents. We paid $95 per night.
Free ice machine, Free Laundry (1 washer 1 dryer), very clean facilities, free pump out at your slip. Very helpful Marty described himself as the "ambasador" ... as he is not always here. He WILL do his best to be here when you arrive if you call ahead. (I don't think he is a full time employee.)

The slips are cement floating docks.
There is NOT a lot of current here. So, you should NOT have a problem pulling into the slip on any tide, which is perpendicular to the narrow ICW in this stretch.

Our UPS shipments from Amazon made it here, and Instacart delivered successfully. However, US Mail does not reliably get delivered here. So our SBI mail forwarding got "returned to sender" a bummer to be sure.

There is no marina "courtesy car" according to Marty and Pricilla. However: https://www.delraybeachfl.gov/government/city-departments/public-works/transportation-traffic/downtown-shuttle-service
We may stay an extra day just to try it out!

We were the 2nd boat to anchor here tonight as the sun was setting. Now there are 3 sailboats, and 2 power boats. There is a gale warning for tonight and tomorrow with winds out of the North. So we'll see how everyone fairs. But, I'd say this is a good, reliable spot from my preliminary observations. Halfway between Norfolk and Coinjock... not a bad place! The only negative is that in the morning the wake from ICW traffic will be noteworthy. Most vessels will slow down, but still, wake is wake! We have decided to stay for another night here as there is a gale in effect so winds from the north will make this river bumpy when it widens west and south of Knotts Island. (Plus Coinjock is overbooked for tonight!)
